RYLA Volunteers needed

Rotary District 6000 has an urgent request for volunteers for RYLA in 2016.  20 volunteers are needed to provide staffing for this year's RYLA program. At the moment, there are only 10 applications. The deadline for applications is April 30.

If you intend to help with RYLA this year, please complete an application soon. For those who are unable to help spread the word that volunteers are needed

Training for RYLA will held Saturday, June 18 from 8-5 in Grinnell, Iowa

RYLA will be held in Grinnell from July 16-22.

There is no cost to you, since room and board is provided.

The application is on line at iowaryla.org

Without volunteers we will need to review the number of students that we can handle. Please help!

April Board Meeting

Rotary Club of Indianola's April Board was held Thursday April 7, 2016 at Crouse Cafe.
Present:  Ron H., Steve West, Jennifer Mc., Laura D., Dave T., Mckinley S., Tim Mc.

1.  The Board approved the construction of a new shed at the Balloon field, with a total estimated cost of $2,500.  The Shed is to be named in Steve Pfeifer's honor.  It will be used by Rotary during the Classic for ticket sales and during the off season for storage of signage used on the field.  The National Balloon Classic Board has approved the construction and will assist with one-half the cost of the new shed.   Rotary members will be asked to donate labor for the project during the month of June.

2.  Todd K. is chairperson for this year's Indianola Community Beautification Blowout that will be held on April 23rd from 10 a.m. - Noon.  Members are encouraged to volunteer with the cleanup effort.

3.  The Annual Bike Ride will be held May 7th.  Our Rotary Club is again partnering with the Warren County Leadership Institute Class.  More details will be provided at our meeting on Friday.

4.  The Board is working on the 2016-17 budget and plans to have the draft copy ready for review at the May Board meeting.

5.  The Des Moines Area Rotary Clubs continue to work on an international water project and has asked our club to participate.  The project is still being formulated but may become a multi-year project.  More information will be available in the near future.

6.  Our Rotary Club has received the Governor's Award for this Rotary Year.  Announcements for the Presidential Citation will be made next month.

7.  One new member was approved.

8.  The Board approved matching last year's total Dollars For Scholars awards, which means we will donate 3 - $300 scholarships to the 2016 Graduating Class of Indianola High School.
