Of The Things we think, say or do

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL  and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all Concerned?

Months of physical therapy have allowed Samir to keep active with his siblings. He loves to play outside, and his favorite game is chase. Since 1995, when India held its first national polio immunization campaign, 2.3 million vaccinators have visited 209 million households to immunize 170 million children every year. Their efforts will help provide a polio-free future for generations to come throughout Southeast Asia.  Photo Credit: Allison Kwesell

Below is a note from this year's planning committee chair for the Des Moines Rotary Club Multi-Planning Committee.  If you are interested in helping this committee plan for next year's event please contact Drew, then call Tamara.
____________

We have finalized our financials for the special June multi-club event.  See attached for our financial report.
I am pleased to report that we had net income $6,700 (well, $6,699.38 to be exact).

We believe we had nearly 200 people in attendance.  We don’t have an exact count since some clubs didn’t have a check-in person and we know that some folks didn’t get checked in.
But based on our seating, we’re pretty sure we were around 200.

As we discussed as a group in one of our president’s meetings last year and with our planning committee – we plan to hold $1,500 in an account for this committee’s work each year.
That means we will be donating the following to charity – a total of $5,200 -- 50/50.  J
·         Polio Plus -- $2,600
·         Outreach Inc/Food Bank -- $2,600

We had nearly $15,000 in sponsorships, and over $3,600 in registration fees and donations.  And we really held down expenses.
We’re thrilled with the amount generated for charity – while we had a great time mingling with other clubs.  We actually exceeded our goal going to charity.
We hope you’re thrilled as well.

Now, it’s time to start thinking about the next event.  As I mentioned prior, I’d love it if each club had a representative to make up the committee moving forward.
I have a few of our committee members who would like to stay involved too to help build the momentum.
It would be great if it were all of you – since you have a great understanding of what we were trying to accomplish.  Or if it’s someone else from your club, that’s good too.
Please let me know if you or another person would like to be involved by next week.
I’ll be setting a committee meeting soon.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Tamara

Arlen issued a challenge last week to match $500 for the District Governor's Coats for Kids project. All money donated will be returned to Indianola as various sized coats.  These coats will then be given to children whose family is unable to provide one for them.  .

As of Wednesday evening 30 children have been identified by school officials as needing coats.  Hope Foundation will be asked to help with identification and distribution of the coats as they are needed in the future.

Checks should be made payable to:  "District 6000 HEF"  If you are interested in participating in the KEEP KIDS WARM project, we ask that you please give your donations to Gary or Terry.

We are keeping track of each member's donation on a worksheet to submit to the DG by the end of September in an effort to make it easier for the DG's office to track how many coats our club will receive in return. If you choose to send your check directly to the DG, please note the donation is from our club so they know where to send the coat(s).

We have been asked to send our donations in no later than October 1st so the deadline is this week.

Let's exceed the challenge.

Terry

Barnhart, a military veteran who served in Iraq in 2006-2007, is the founder and president of our organization.
