DG Mike's visit last week was inspiring for our leadership. In addition to learning about Indianola and our Club, Mike offered two suggestions for membership recruiting and engagement. We will learn more of his ideas to help new members become engaged and how to keep all members engaged in the business of Rotary in our Community.
Mike has created three pilot programs for our District.
1. To keep membership up-to-date with District Club's, a copy of the quarterly newsletter is being mailed to each member. Members are encouraged to share the newsletter with others in their office or places that the public frequents.
2. The District Conference will be held in several locations across the district in an effort to involved more members and decrease the cost of the convention for our members.
3. DG Mike has partnered with World Bicycle to purchase bicycles for use by individuals in other countries. The cost of each bicycle is $145. Students in schools in disadvantaged countries will be recommended by their teachers and asked to sign a pledge to keep the bicycle in good repair and use for education.
DG Mike also mentioned that RI President Ian has created three goals for Rotary Members during the current Rotary Year.
A. Plant Trees For the Future of our Youth
B. Members are asked to record their volunteer hours spent helping their community grow.
C. Clubs are asked to keep track of the dollars spend doing good in their communities.
In other words: Go! Make A Difference.
