Jeromy's guest this week is Dr. Russ Benedict (Batman), Professor of Biology, from Central College.

Russ’s areas of expertise include prairie ecology and restoration, conservation biology and natural history, mammalogy. Russ will be discussing a bit about bats in Iowa.

Balloon Parking

We are only one week away from the start of the 2017 National Balloon Classic.

Row markers have been installed to permanently mark the row sign locations. New number signs are being made to mark rows along the center driveway.

All the trimming around the shed and poles was completed on Saturday July 15th.

FIELD Setup

MONDAY July 24th 5:00 p.m.

Tools needed: 2 or 3 steel post drivers

Lawnmower - Classic has one that we can use. A second mower can help.

Three people to guide the person(s) mowing the strips.
Three or four people to set up the ropes at the entrance.
Two people to set up ropes at the EXIT
Three people and a pickup or trailer to put signs up in the middle driveway. May need a heavy hammer and rod to create a place to insert the signs.
Two people and a pickup or trailer to put signs up along the North Fence. No tools necessary. These can be stepped in with your foot.
Refreshments for after the work is completed.

We will have the gates open about 5 p.m. so you do not have to park on the road.

Dave and Jana Tanner invited Rotarians to their home last Saturday evening for sweet corn and fellowship.

There was more than enough food to go around and everyone enjoyed the fellowship.

Community Events

This month is a very busy time for the community of Indianola.

All summer 4-H Members. FFA Members and Adults have been busy preparing their exhibits for the Warren County Fair. The Fair begins on Wednesday July 26th this year and runs through Sunday July 30th. The Livestock Auction is Monday July 31st.

July 28th is the start of the 2017 National Balloon Classic.

July 29th is the Balloon Classic parade, which begins at 11 a.m.

Marion Turnupseed explained the process that moved service men and airplanes from the U.S.A. to England during World War II. He lived through many harrowing missions serving as flight engineer on a B-24 Bomber.
