Interact is in the process of creating a leadership system, including agendas for meetings, committees and their functions, possibility of establishing a middle school interact club, plus finalizing their by-laws. The group will meet on January 16th to complete some of the plans. They have also scheduled time to meet with the City Council on January 16th to provide the council with an overview of their purpose.
Arlen is working on our club’s plan to utilize Foundation points to help our members become Paul Harris Fellows.
Service Committee is working with WC Habitat For Humanity and will announce a “Rotary Workday” in the near future.
Financial Overview – Seth suggested that the Board complete an audit each year. The Board suggested that an audit be prepared during the month of July and the Board will review at their August meeting each year.
New Business
At our December meeting a motion to donate $250 to WC Habitat For Humanity was approved. After that meeting, we realized that last year we had committed $1,000 to to WCHFH for the following two years. A motion by Terry, second by Tim, to increase the 2017 contribution from $250 to $1,000 was approved.
Discussion about a Club Historian was held. Ron is going to ask several individuals if they are interested. Tim Mc. has agreed to photograph all Rotary Banners that we currently have on hand. Plans include the creation of a digital file system to store and display the banners and other historical information.
With Cyd’s resignation it was decided to transfer duties for RYLA to the Interact Club leadership. The Board approved a motion to send four (4) Students to RYLA in July 2017.
One of the projects that Ray Heinicke was passionate about involved Amaranth Education, principally growing the crop for food in arid regions of the world. A motion by Ron, 2nd by Tim, was approved to donate $250 for Eli’s project.
Tip collection for staff at country club will be collected at this week’s meeting.
Polio Plus Night at Wells Fargo is set for Jan 28. See Ron to purchase the $16 tickets. One-half of the ticket price will be donated to PolioPlus. Members who do not wish to attend, may purchase one or more tickets to be given to children who would otherwise not be able to attend. One-half of the Money raised during this year’s “pork cook-off” will be added the amount donated to PolioPlus.
The Board approved the purchase of a subscription for an online version of the QuickBooks program at a cost of $15/month. Once membership is added to the program reports, invoices and member dues will be managed in a more efficient manner.
Social Events for Rotary and Non-Rotary members are being organized. The First event will occur at 6 p.m. January 14th at the Brick House in Indianola. Stay tuned for more details.

Types of grants
The Rotary Foundation offers grants that support humanitarian projects, scholarships, and vocational training teams. Here’s an overview:
Global grants support large international projects with long-term, sustainable outcomes in one or more of Rotary’s areas of focus. They range from $15,000 to $200,000.
District grants fund smaller-scale, short-term projects that address immediate needs in your community or abroad.
Packaged grants fund up to 10 scholarships each year for students in a master’s program on water and sanitation at the UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education in Delft, Netherlands.
District qualification
Before applying for grants, district leaders agree to follow the stewardship requirements listed in the memorandum of understanding.
