Of The Things we think, say or do

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL  and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all Concerned?

Gary has a great program lined up for this week.

Rotary Youth Exchange Pumpkin Fest
The Youth Pumpkin Fest will be this Saturday, October 25th from about 10:00 to 2:00. We need Indianola Rotarians to help. We’ll have exchange students and Rotarians from throughout the district and we should show our support through participation. Please contact Ron to volunteer.

The event takes place at the Historical Building on the Warren County Fairgrounds.
Stop to meet the Students and their host families.
Find out first hand how rewarding being a host parent can be.
Better yet, invite a prospective host parent to the event.
This would be a great way to make others aware of the program's rewarding experiences.

Below is an e-mail received from Deb Okenfels regarding the District Coat Project.
Thanks to all Rotarians across the District who helped to make Deb's wish come true ( X 2 ).
Remember?  She started with a 4,000 coat goal!
I sent the order for coats to Operation Warm yesterday afternoon and we made an official announcement last night at the Fall Training Seminar in West Liberty. The number of coats ordered was 8790!!!
Many people have said "You're doing such a great thing!" I want everyone to know that we've been the catalyst, the order-taker, the nag and the cheerleader. We're all those things because of the fantastic response from all of you! If you hadn't done the generous, caring part you did, we wouldn't be doing the part we're doing! Thank you!
Special thanks go out to Don Patterson, who has been valiantly dealing with the deluge of checks, and also to Kris Ockenfels, who has been the wizard of the spreadsheet and my little bit of sanity during some of the crazy times. I also want to mention our Rotary contact at Operation Warm, Rich Lalley, who did say "Holy shit!" when I told him we were at 7,000 coats. Little did he know! He's been wonderful to work with, set up the online donation site, donated to our district himself and arranged for us to have an extra $1000 donation through Groupon.
Did I mention "nag"??? If you haven't send in your money, either donations or your grant match, please do so immediately. Please send a club check, written to Rotary District 6000 HEF. With an order this big, Op Warm won't release coats until they've received their payment. The grant funds from RI will be dealt with through the district. When payment has been sent, we can start working on the coat pickup at Op Warm. We've been in contact with both trucking donators and also with the truck dock/warehouse we'll use in Des Moines. The Iowa City delivery will come to the FAMSCO warehouse in Coralville. I'll send out delivery info as soon as we have it.
Any questions, please let me know. Thanks again!

Barnhart, a military veteran who served in Iraq in 2006-2007, is the founder and president of our organization. I am trying to line up speaking engagements for him to help spread the word about our organization, what we have to offer all communities, and gain support. I would like to know if you would be interested in having Holden Barnhart speak at one of your meetings to help us get the word out that we are here. Please feel free to contact me via facebook message or call Holden Barnhart at 1808-772-3456. Thank you for taking the time to take a look at this and I look forward to hearing from you! www.vfmaec.com or visit us on our facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Veterans-for-Missing-and-Exploited-Children/194630694024081
