Indianola's All-Inclusive Playground

An Indianola Chamber Ribbon Cutting will be held at 4 p.m. on August 6th to dedicate the equipment.  Plan to attend and Bring the Children.

Over three years ago an idea to create a playground in our community for all children sprouted.  A contest that would have earned $25,000 towards  the cost of equipment for such a playground  was unsuccessful the first year an missed by only a few votes of getting us in the Top 10 to qualify the second year.

Not to be deterred, the Kiwanis Club of Indianola started raising funds for the playground and Todd Kielkopf, Rotary Club of Indianola President, secured a $4,600 grant from Rotary District 6000.  The grant required sweat equity from our Club's members.

That playground was completed June 29th.

The playground equipment - All-Inclusive - for children of all abilities was installed in a section of Pickard Park, near the East Shelter.  Indianola Parks & Rec was integral in deciding the location and helping prepare the site for the equipment.  Rotary members helped by building forms to pour the sidewalks around the site and completed the project by moving the mulch in and around the equipment on Saturday June 29th.

Many hands, many thoughts, many donations have worked together to help our community provide "fun" for our children.  We thank each and everyone.  A sign will be installed soon that names all of the donors of the project.  Please take time to thank each one for their generosity and desire to improve our community.

The items installed are: Ten Spin, Buddy Rocker and 4-Panels - Tic-Tac-Toe, Marble Race, Electric Piano and Calypso 3-Drum.
