A Dictionary and 3rd Grade Students
What a joy it is to be in a school, standing in front of 4 classes of 3rd Grade Students and see the reaction when they are told there is going to be a test.  Maybe you are one of those past students?  What do you suppose went through those young minds when hearing the word test and not knowing what the topic of the test would be???

As a member of Rotary Club of Indianola, it has been a privilege to help distribute over 5,500 personal dictionaries to Indianola 3rd Grade students over the past 20 years.  What a joy it is to listen to their discovery of the "Longest Word" or "Sign Language" or the Planets.

We take for granted, today, that the technology we carry around in our pockets is all we need, yet it is from books that we learn.  Today, I do more reading online or listening to books online.  Why? Because the technology allows me to take multiple books and resources with me where ever I go.  But I'm still reading a Book!

Oh, about the test?  Look up the word  'vex'....... our parting words?  "Don't Vex your teacher today!"

If your child is in elementary school, engage them every day.  What books did they read today?  Sit down and read a book with them....It is a life-use they will never out grow.
