Rotary Club of Indianola
March Board Meeting Minutes
April 3, 2019
7 a.m. Crouse Cafe
Present: Mckinley S., Ron H., Tim Mc., Todd K., Dave T., Arlen S., Kelly W., Janet H., and Terry P.
- Rotaract is completing preparations for next school year’s leadership team.
- Interact is struggling with membership and people interested in working on projects. Interest in attending RYLA in 2019 is much lower than past years. Our Club has paid for four places at RYLA this year, so we will continue to advertise the leadership skills that are part of the week-long event.
- The Rotary Foundation Dinner is this Friday on April 5th. About 40 people have signed up to attend, including members of local Lions and Kiwanis clubs.
- Mckinley noted that conversations are continuing with Young Professionals and wants to reach out to teachers at the local school as potential members of a Satellite Rotary Group.
- Ron reported that the Art Festival will be held at Annelise Winery on Saturday November 2nd. This year’s event will be a fundraising opportunity to purchase a “clay mixer” for the High School Art Department. The Club is committed to holding an event and suggested several other ideas to help raise money, as well as increase attendance.
- Todd reported on the Grant for the Playground Project.
- The District Grant has been approved for $4,850 and must be completed by June 30, 2019.
- The grant is to be used to pay for site preparation, wood chips, benches, Panels and Posts. Work can be scheduled as soon as the City Administrator gives the go ahead.
- 100 hours of labor equity will be required to complete the grant. So Members and non-members will be asked to help in site preparation, concrete work and installation during an 8-week time period this spring.
Next meeting of the Board will be Wednesday May 1, 7 a.m. at Crouse Café.
