Rotarians are very much more favorably disposed toward action than they are toward words.” ~Paul P. Harris Rotary Club of Chicago November 1912

This Week's Program

Steve R.'s program this week is "Lies Your Teacher Told You (and assorted other inaccuracies) Smart People believe.

Helping Hand Food Drive

Mark Your Calendar.

Saturday, July 27th is the annual National Balloon Classic Parade.

We need as many hands as possible, including a couple of people in the truck collecting from our walkers, organizing and handing boxes back out.

4-6 people are needed to walk the route and collect food items from the public.

All donations will be delivered to Helping Hand after the parade.

Helping Hand Donations

Agency LogoIn addition to collecting food supplies for Helping Hand during the parade on July 27th, several businesses in the community have allowed us to place collection boxes in their business to collect additional food supplies.

A list of the businesses will be sent out to all members when it is available.  Please encourage your friends and family to support this effort.   Thank you.

City Council Presented with Check

The Indianola City Council was presented a check on Monday July 15th from Kiwanis Club of Indianola that included money raised for the All-Inclusive Playground at Pickard Park.

Rotary Council on Legislation

Greetings from Evanston! After Council on Legislation, we put together a document that describes some of the changes that clubs or districts will see with the start of the new Rotary Year. CLICK HERE to view this document. A few things to note:

  1. Even though there were many more items that passed, a lot of them had to do with the overall organization. This document highlights what’s happening at the club and district levels. For a full overview of the COL, Rotarians could either check in with your COL Reps or visit My Rotary (www.MyRotary.org).

  2. You’ll see that page 1 of the document discusses that the language in Standard Rotary Club Constitution (SRCC) will be modernized to make it more accessible. It also asks the reader head to My Rotary to download a copy. We’re still in the process of streamlining the SRCC and expect it’ll be posted soon.

  3. In line with number 2 above, the 2019 Manual of Procedure (MOP)is also being drafted. Traditionally, the English version of the MOPhas released in the fall (usually October) with translated versions to follow in winter. We expect the same timing this year, and will let you know when the new edition has been released. We’re expecting that it will release as an electronic PDF rather than a printed version.
