This week, along with the cold & wind, a new venture began in the city of Indianola.
Amy Duncan, along with several other news enthusiasts, decided it was time to create and provide our community with a new "News" outlet.
Amy has devoted most of her life to managing and reporting news in several different communities. Now she has managed to create a New "Online Newspaper" for the community.
Starting out with a Blog, Amy found the community was hungry for local news. That led to the idea of an online version of a newspaper devoted to local news, sports and events. Her blog has transformed in what is now named the "Indianola Independent Advocate" and features local news, sports, advertising and all the other items that you normally search for in a newspaper.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a leadership program coordinated by Rotary Clubs around the globe. Each year, thousands of young people participate in this program. Young people ages 13–30 are sponsored by Rotary Clubs to attend the event run by the club's district committee.
Each year Rotary Club of Indianola sends four Indianola students to a week-long RYLA session at Grinnell College. The 2019 students will be chosen by a High School Guidance Counselor within the next month.
If you know of a student who would benefit from this Leadership education, make sure their name is known by our High School Counselors in the next couple of weeks.
RYLA graduates will be our community's future leaders!
Rotary DMAM member, Amy Ratekin, who owns C.O.B.R.A. Self-Defense Iowa, has a great event planned. She will spend two hours training how to defend ourselves. This will be a hands-on training, so wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
And with our event fee -- $39/person – she will donate the same class to a woman who cannot afford this training.
